Project Description

Tanzania, Africa

This trip was the opportunity of a lifetime. I lived in an impoverished backwater county, and where many native people never have the opportunity to leave the area, let alone cross the ocean. The Ashley Soulé Conroy Foundation made this opportunity possible by kindly providing the resources I needed to pay for this trip. Thanks to this scholarship, I had the chance to immerse myself in Tanzanian culture, live like the native Africans do, and learn about East African history and animals. As an Intercultural Studies major, I had the chance to apply what I have been learning in the classroom during my studies. I was personally able to see that a culture can differ from what I am used to and yet be beautiful at the same time.
